Description
Profile: Solomon's seal is a perennial herb native to central and eastern North America that belongs to the Asparagaceae family. It is a close relative of Lily-of-the-Valley.

Polygonatum biflorum rhizomes harvested from the wild are used to make our Solomon's seal root powder. Liquid extract and encapsulation are examples of common preparations.
In the past, Native American tribes used the starchy rhizomes of Solomon's seal as a potato-like meal to prepare soups and breads. The immature stalks can be eaten raw or boiled to make a dish similar to asparagus. The name of the plant comes from a scar that appears on the rhizome in the fall and mimics King Solomon's ancient seal. It also goes by the name little Solomon's seal.
