Profile: Arjuna is an India-native deciduous tree. Arjuna bark has been used in Ayurveda for millennia for its heart-supporting effects. Terminalia arjuna bark is processed into arjuna powder. Powder is cooked in milk or ghee in Ayurveda. Arjuna bark powder makes a tea or extract.
Details: Arjuna grows along riverbanks in West Bengal, south, and central India. The 20-25-meter-tall tree has a buttressed trunk that generates a large canopy at the top. It features oblong, conical, green-on-top and brown-below leaves, smooth grey bark, and pale-yellow blooms from March to June.
This Ayurvedic herb is good for the heart chakra. In Theravada Buddhism, arjuna was employed by the tenth Lord Buddha, Anomadassi, to achieve Bodhi.
