Description

Profile: Blue cohosh is a rhizomatous perennial that grows in shaded forest settings in eastern North America. The Berberidaceae family includes blue cohosh, which produces brilliant blue, toxic berries. Indigenous communities, on the other hand, have employed the root in medicinal applications for millennia. Our blue cohosh root powder is made from Caulophyllum thalictroides and can be used topically, in extracts, and in infusions.

Details:

Blue cohosh is a woodland plant native to the eastern United States and Canada that belongs to the same family as barberry, goldenseal, and Oregon grape root. The name cohosh comes from the Algonquian language and means "rough root." The rest of the name derives from the stem, which is bluish. Papoose root is another name for blue cohosh.
