Elderberries are high in vitamin C and contain vitamins A and B. Potassium nitrate, flavonoids (rutin and quercetin), anthocyanins, sambucin, sambunigrin, palmitic acid, and chlorogenic acid are among the other nutrients found in elderberry. These lovely purple-blackish berries are also used to strengthen the immune system and prevent colds and flu.
Folklore/Botanica
Because it was inhabited by a "tree spirit" known as Elder Mother, the elder tree was supposed to have magical protective qualities. As a result, the wood was frequently used to build dowsing rods and other divination equipment. Elderberries are frequently employed in spells of protection.
