Description

Aboriginal Australians have used eucalyptus leaf for its health-promoting effects for thousands of years. Eucalyptus globulus, an Australian native, has been brought to many other nations. The tree is evergreen and has leathery, blue-green leaves that smell like camphor. Our eucalyptus powder, which is made from the leaves and can be used topically or in tinctures, is pulverized.

Evergreen eucalyptus trees are native to Australia, but they have naturalized in California and the nations of the Mediterranean. It has blue-green leaves that are leathery and covered in glands that secrete a fragrant, volatile oil. There are many different eucalyptus tree species, but Eucalyptus globulus produces the oil with the best aroma. Aromatherapy, face or hydro-steams, and teas are common preparations. Encapsulation or extracts may be used, but we have only occasionally seen these. Mucus is released as a result of eucalyptus oil's action on nerve receptors in the sinus and nasal mucosa.
