Profile: Pulmonaria officinalis, a plant from the borage family, is mainly grown in cultivation, though it can occasionally be spotted in woodland areas in eastern and western Europe. Details: In its natural settings, lungwort is one of the first plants to bloom in the early spring. It was worn as a defense against the evil eye and was occasionally referred to as the "Herb of Mary." It was employed as part of a formula to determine whether or not someone was a witch. A member of the Boraginaceae family is lungwort.
