Description
Profile: Although it is thought that the sweet orange, or Citrus x sinensis, originated in China, it is currently produced in tropical areas all over the world. The peel is divided into pieces, dried, and processed into powder for use in liquid extracts, drinks, foods, cosmetics, and body care products. Due to its perfume, flavor, and medicinal properties, orange peel has been utilized in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years.
Details:
Since the second century BC publication of the Divine Husbandman's Classic of the Materia Medica, peels from any member of the sweet orange family have been employed in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The peel of the orange has significantly more enzymes, flavonoids, and phytonutrients than the fruit, which is a little-known fact. All the necessary ingredients gather in the peel, which has three main sections: the flavedo, the albedo, and the oil sacs.
The sweet orange is thought to have originated in China, and from there it has been grown in almost every nation in the world, with the majority of the present output coming from Florida, California, and portions of the Mediterranean.
The powdered peel is used to give beverages a pleasant, effervescent flavor. The sliced peel is historically used as a tea. Peel is frequently used in cosmetics, either chopped or powdered. Due to its mild flavor, the peel is simple to incorporate into tea blends. It may also be used to make jams, jellies, stir-fries, and many other foods.
