Description

Profile: Angelica archangelica is found throughout Asia, Europe, and parts of the United States, and favours northern latitudes. This Apiaceae family member thrives in moist soil, near running water, and along woodland borders. Angelica roots are aromatic and have energetics that are spicy, bitter, and warming. Angelica root can be made into a tea, tinctured, or used as a liquor flavoring.

Details: The European cousin of the more well-known dong-quai is Angelica. Angelica is an elegant flowering plant related to carrots, dill, and fennel that can be found from Nunavut through Lapland in the north to Syria and South Carolina in the south. The plant has a strong, sweet perfume that reminds me of carrots rather than dill or fennel.
