Its stem's bark is used as a substitute for Ptychopetalum olacoides because of its health-promoting and tonic properties across the Amazon. Usually made into a tincture, muira puama bark powder can also be decocted, encapsulated, and administered topically.
An understory tree in the Amazonian rain forest is called a muira puama. It reaches a height of 15 feet (5 meters) and produces white flowers that are strongly scented with jasmine. In the traditional herbal treatments of the rainforest, the bark and root are used. Although it can be drunk as a tea, a tincture is more potent. Use a for the tincture.
