Description
Profile: Hordeum vulgare, which originated in western Asia and northeast Africa, was one of the first cultivated crops. Before the plant produces a stem or grain, the sensitive immature barley grass leaves are harvested. The leaves are dried and crushed into barley grass powder, which is then consumed for its nutritional properties. Smoothies, juices, yogurts, and rice meals can all benefit from the powder.

For at least 1800 years, barley grass has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Barley grass is developed by soaking the seeds in clean water until they germinate and form 2 inch (5 cm) tall shoots. A single tablespoon (3-4 grams) of barley grass powder is typically added to teas, smoothies, cereals, or other foods on a daily basis. Also available as a pill or an extract. The dried unjointed leaf is processed into our barley grass powder.
