Europe and North America have linden trees. European folktales feature linden. Celtic legend says sitting under a linden tree will cure epilepsy. Roman and German mythology call the linden tree the "tree of lovers," while Polish folklore says its wood protects against the evil eye and lightning. Linden blossoms are used to manufacture herbal drinks and perfume bases and to attract bees that produce honey. Linden is a Tiliaceae plant family member.
