Description

Profile: Tabebuia impetiginosa is a tropical deciduous tree. "Taheebo" or "lapacho" is Pau d'arco's inner bark. This tree bark has been used for thousands of years in native therapeutic traditions, especially by the Incas, who constructed bows from it. Pau d'arco bark can be tinctured, used topically, or made into tea.

Details:

Pau d'arco is one of the best-known but least-understood Amazonian herbs. Pau d'arco is a 125-foot-tall canopy tree with pink to violet blossoms. Several tribes have used it to create bows since the Incas. Several native names imply "bow stick"

Tea and liquid extract are common. Pau d'arco tincture should be taken in water with lemon juice to absorb tannins through the intestines. Bignoniaceae includes Tabebuia impetiginosa.
