Description

Profile: A perennial herbaceous plant in the mint family is called Collinsonia canadensis. Stone root is a rough, knobby root that is indigenous to eastern North America. Its little, yellow blossoms have a lemon scent. The root's medicinal characteristics have long been used in traditional herbal remedies, and it has a strong, spicy flavor. Liquid extraction or decoction are common ways to prepare stone root.

Details:

Its distinctive aroma, which has been characterized as having a citrus scent that is somewhat unpleasant, makes the plant stand out. The root is quite heavy and hard, making it challenging to grind into powder. After English botanist Peter Collinson, who found the plant, it was given that name. Citronella, horse balm, and richweed are a few more frequent names for the plant.
