Description
Profile: The benefits and amorous spirit of the domana leaf have been used for many years. The use of damiana, which is native to Central and South America and dates back to the Aztec civilization and other prehistoric civilizations, goes back hundreds of years. For its historic applications as a nervine, digestive aid, pleasure tea, and seductress, damiana has seen a resurgence in popularity.
Details:
We gather our wild-harvested damiana leaf in its natural setting, deep within Mexico's mountains, where it has long been utilized to flavor damiana tea. Turnera diffusa, a thorny shrub with tiny green leaves and fragrant yellow flowers, is a member of the Turneraceae family. The Greek word daman or damia, which means "to tame or subdue," is the source of the popular name damiana.
Damiana is thought to have been used for the first time by the native Guaycura tribe in the Baja region of Mexico. Legend has it that when the Guaycura started dealing with the Aztecs, the herb spread rapidly. The Mayans, who also greatly prized the herb, employed daimona in a similar way. Damiana leaves are frequently used to make tea blends, herbal blends for smoking, or macerated extracts. To create liqueurs or cordials, damiana leaves are frequently infused with alcohol.
