Description
Profile: A huge evergreen shrub native to southern North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, bayberry is a large evergreen shrub. While the plant's waxy fruits and aromatic leaves have been used to make candles, bayberry root bark has been used for its medicinal benefits for centuries. Morella cerifera bayberry root bark powder is pulverized and can be used in extractions, infusions, and topical pastes.
Details:
Bayberry trees thrive in wetland areas, sandy soil, and pine barrens. They're commonly grown in the Eastern United States and the British Isles. Because of the lovely aroma of the leaves, American colonists employed bayberry in candle making before learning about its medicinal benefits. When the leaves are brushed, they emit a strong, pleasant scent.
The bayberry tree is considered to bring good fortune and wealth to the home it is placed next to. The bayberry tree has been the center of many good luck rituals. For example, it is believed that lighting a bayberry candle on New Year's Eve will bring you good fortune the next year, or that carrying a portion of the bark or berries in a little satchel or a dry leaf in your wallet will attract money. Candle berry, southern bayberry, and wax myrtle are some of the other common names for this plant.
