Description
Profile: Lentils with an Indian flair that the whole family will enjoy, including babies. It's ready to consume or freeze once the dal and rice have reached the required consistency. Before freezing, make sure the liquid is fully cool. I use small individual glass bowls with lids and freezer ice trays.
Cook's Notes:
Cook the rice with 2 1/4 cup water if it hasn't been soaked.
To achieve the correct consistency, adjust the amount of water used to cook the lentils. If you're using less water than the recipe calls for, keep an eye on the lentils to make sure they don't dry out.
If preferred, butter can be used instead of olive oil.
To prepare for a baby, combine the dal and rice and set aside to cool. Combine and mash or puree. The size of the vegetables in the meal will determine whether or not you purée them. When I use broccoli, I normally purée the baby food, but not peas.
